Public Spaces Master Plan (PSMP) Update
Arlington County is in the process of updating the 2005 Public Spaces Master Plan (PSMP). The purpose of the PSMP Update is to assess various aspects of Arlington’s public space system and provide strategies for the future for the full breadth of public spaces, including all of the parks, natural resource and recreational needs that make up that system. The community and park and recreation stakeholders will be fully engaged in the process.
PSMP Approval Process

Request to Advertise (RTA)
As part of the RTA process, the Proposed 2019 Public Spaces Master Plan was considered by the County Board on Tues., March 19, 2019. Here is the link to the agenda and other documents for this meeting.

POPS Final Draft
After more than three years of partnership with the PSMP Update Advisory Committee, numerous public engagement activities and more than 1,000 recorded community comments, Arlington County brings forward this final draft of the updated Public Spaces Master Plan (a process otherwise known as a Plan for Our Places and Spaces--POPS). Final Draft Feedback
Process and Timeline
The process to update the 2005 PSMP started in 2015, with the appointment of an advisory committee by the County Manager. After a robust public engagement and partnership with the PSMP Update Advisory Committee, the Preliminary Draft was presented to the community in July of 2017. Following the review of community comments and additional public meetings, the Final Draft is presented to the community in October 2018.
