About the Project
The playground improvements at Oakgrove Park are the second phase in the renovation of the park. In this second phase, the tot lot will be replaced in its existing location to preserve existing trees. The existing picnic shelter will be replaced, and a water fountain and school-age play area in the open area adjacent to the sport field (north of the tot lot) will be installed. Through a community process, which included meetings with both children and adults, new playground equipment was chosen for the tot lot and the new play area for school-age children. In addition to many new trees, bioretention will be installed to provide stormwater management. The first phase of this project was completed in spring 2015, and included accessibility improvements, an entrance feature, and a new field with irrigation. This Neighborhood Conservation project was scoped and approved by the Cherry Dale Civic Association and the NCAC in Fall 2014, and approved by the County Board in Winter 2015
