Lubber Run Park Bridge Replacement
Location
300 N. Park Drive
Status
Complete
Project has been completed and the bridge is open for use.
About the Project
The upper pedestrian bridge over Lubber Run nearest to the Lubber Run Community Center had significant structural issues causing the need for the bridge to be closed and pedestrian detoured to the crossing at the low-water ford near the picnic shelter.
Design of the new bridge entailed a topographic survey, analysis of the floodplain and rigorous permitting requirements. The new bridge is located in approximately the same location as the existing bridge causing minimal impact to existing trees. As part of the bridge replacement, the County also repaved the section of trail that links from North George Mason Drive to 3rd Street North in front of the bridge.
