300 N. Park Drive
About the Project
The pedestrian bridge over Lubber Run, nearest to Lubber Run Community Center, is aging and significant structural issues with the bridge have been identified. The bridge has been closed and pedestrian traffic has been detoured to the crossing at the low-water ford near the picnic shelter. The cost to make the necessary repairs is significant enough to warrant replacement of the bridge.
Design of a new bridge will entail a topographic survey and analysis of the floodplain. The new bridge is proposed to be located in approximately the same location as the existing bridge, such that impacts to existing trees will be minimal. Construction of the bridge is anticipated to begin by the end of 2019 and a new pedestrian bridge will be in place in 2020, to coincide with the completion of the Lubber Run Community Center project.
