About the Project
As part of Site Plan #315 & #72, the applicant, SEHT North Glebe, LLC, proposes redevelopment of the existing Harris Teeter grocery and American Service Center site located at 600 N. Glebe Road, with a mixed-use project which will include a new flagship-level Harris Teeter, multi-family apartment units, and a half-acre privately owned public space. You can learn more about the overall Harris Teeter project here.
Privately Owned Public Space Proposal:
The applicant is proposing a 0.625 acre Privately Owned Public Space, which is called for in the North Quincy Street Plan Addendum (NQSPA) adopted by the County Board in 2013. The NQSPA serves as planning guide for future land use, transportation, and open spaces for this area. Some of the guidance from this document include establishment of a central open space of at least one-half acre in size within the block and County-led planning process for the design of the open space.
About the Process
Engagement and Timeline:
The community engagement process for the open space component of this development will include two public open houses and two online feedback tools. The first open house was held July 23, 2019 at the Ellen M. Bozman Government Center. This open house showcased two draft concepts for community feedback. The open house was accompanied by a presentation at the July 23 Park and Recreation Commission meeting. Click here to review the preliminary design concepts. Those who were unable to attend the July 23 open house were able to share their thoughts via an online feedback tool through August 13.
The second open house will be hosted in the Fall of 2019 and will solicit feedback on the final design. This open house will be supplemented with an online feedback tool as well.
