About the Process
On June 21, 2017, staff shared the latest plans for the Gunston Diamond Field Replacement at an Open House held at the Aurora Hills Senior and Community Center. Arlington County will be converting the Gunston Diamond Field from a natural turf softball field to a synthetic turf field. The project is partially funded by with the help of the Arlington Sports Foundation and the Diamond Field Fund. See the staff presentation here.
In April 2017, the Arlington County Board authorized the County Manager to accept $180,000 from the Arlington Sports Foundation and use $190,000 from the Diamond Field Fund to convert the Gunston Park Diamond Athletic Field #1 to synthetic turf. Read the press release for more information.
At a public meeting held on Wed., Nov. 9 at the Gunston Community Center staff shared information on what will be done to bring the diamond field up to date and discussed the possibility of creating a synthetic turf diamond field at Gunston Park. See the staff presentation here.
