Gravity One Phase II – 24-inch Water Main Project
Location
Project location: The right-of-way of North Taylor Street, Vacation Lane, North Vermont and North Vernon Streets between Lorcom Lane and 25th Street North.
About the Project
This project is the second phase of the Gravity One Supply project, identified in the County’s Water System Master Plan, dated September 2014, as Project B. The first phase of the project was completed in August 2017. The Transmission Main proposed with this Gravity One Watermain Phase II project will serve as backup to the existing 30-inch main that feeds the Lee storage tanks and pump station located at 24th St. N. and N. Wakefield St. The existing 30-inch transmission main is a pre-stressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) built in 1957 and the installation of the proposed main will allow the performance of condition assessment inspection of this critical existing pipe and isolation for maintenance as needed.
The Gravity One Phase II project will add a new 24-inch water transmission main in the right-of-way of North Taylor Street, Vacation Lane, North Vermont and North Vernon Streets between Lorcom Lane and 25th Street North. This Contract also includes installation of a new 8-inch water main to replace an existing 6-inch water main along North Vernon Street between 25th Street North and North Vermont Street. The proposed water main will increase the required system redundancy and transmission capacity.
