South Arlington Ridge Road and South Lynn Street, and South Arlington Ridge Road and on/off ramp to I-395
The 60% design plans have been completed for the intersection of Arlington Ridge and South Lynn Street.
The County continues to discuss safety improvements with the Virginia Department of Transportation for the intersection of Arlington Ridge and I-395 due to federal regulations on interstate access.
About the Project
Arlington Ridge Road was included in the 2004 Arterial Transportation Management Study. The study suggested several recommendations to improve safety in this corridor for all modes of transportation. View the study’s proposed concept designs.
The two intersections covered by this project have experienced a high number of collisions. The goal of this project is to improve safety for all modes and create predictable vehicle movements at Lynn Street and the on/off ramps to I-395.
South Arlington Ridge Road posted speed limit: 25 MPH
Average daily traffic volumes:
- South Arlington Ridge Road, north of I-395 ramp – 3,300
- South Lynn Street, west of 15th Street South – 2,500
Number of collisions in the area between the I-395 ramp and the South Lynn Street intersection:
- 2011 – 1
- 2013 – 1
- 2014 – 3
- 2015 – 2
- 2016 – 1
Project cost will be shared between Arlington County and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
