5th Road South between South Carlin Springs Road and the Arlington County line
As part of spring 2019 repaving work, staff are currently developing potential restriping options.
About the Project
As part of routine spring repaving work within the County, staff are looking at restriping options to improve multimodal safety and connectivity along 5th Road South. The proposed restriping plan will include:
- Better delineation of markings
- Standardize travel lanes to 11 feet
- Formalize parking areas, with attention to sight distance near Carlin Springs Elementary School
- Formalize a bike lane in the eastbound and westbound direction with a buffer
As part of their spring repaving, Fairfax County is repaving and restriping the adjoining section of 5th Road South. They will include similar roadway enhancements to those indicated above.
Arlington County will hosted an open house at Kenmore Middle School on Tuesday, June 4 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Community members were invited to attend the drop-in style event to learn more, review restriping plans, talk with staff and share feedback.
Online Feedback Form
For those unable to attend the in-person opportunities, an online comment form was available to provide comments until June 12.
