Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) uses a secure encrypted mechanism to authenticate and establish a secure connection to transfer files between the originating source and its destination. By using SFTP, County government files are securely transferred to any external vendor or financial institution.
The enterprise SFTP solution provides the secure way to transfer files and reduces the risk of exposing them to hackers while in transit.
The SFTP project is being deployed in two phases. The first automates schedules for all transfers to banks or other financial institutions. The second phase implements file transfers to external vendors using SFTP. The Department of Technology Services (DTS) completed the first phase to enable all bank transfer jobs with secure file transfer protocol. In the second phase, DTS is working with departments in a test pilot for users to fulfill their file transfer requirements.
